Onsite SEO Content Optimization

Let’s talk about optimization, baby!

When you write content, you have to do more than just say something noteworthy. Sure, that’s important, but it doesn’t matter  if no one ever sees it. That’s why you also need SEO.

You can’t write just for the search engines, but you can’t write just for the readers, either. You need to write for both, and strike a balance that can get you found, and also show people that you have valuable information to give them. Fortunately, there are plenty of ways to create content that’s beneficial for SEO and still keep your readers interested.

To Blog, Or Not To Blog

Is Blogging Important?

In short, Yes! Blogging is very important. It puts content onto your site on a regular basis, and gives you a creative outlet that your readers can see. It also gives you a great opportunity to focus on keywords that are important in your industry. By doing keyword research—or hiring an agency to handle it for you—you’ll know what keywords you should be putting into your content. You can come up with topics that are related to those keywords, and write articles that can be posted to your blog. Whether you write them yourself or hire someone, they need to be good quality and posted consistently.

Even if you have a lot of onsite content already (pages, product descriptions. information on services, etc.), it’s still a great idea to blog frequently. You don’t need to post every day, but try to post at least once or twice a week. The more you keep your site updated for the search engines (which is exactly what a blog does, if you use it), the higher you’ll rank for the keywords you’re using. With great SEO content, you can’t go wrong. Customers will find you through search results, and they’ll like what you have to say.

Put Some Effort Into it!

Quality, Quality, Quality.

High Quality Content for SEO

It’s not just about onsite content and a keyword focus—those are what help you rank in the search engines, so people can find your site. Content and keyword focus are necessary parts of content creation, and you should do them right. It will benefit you in the long run. In addition to that, though, make sure you provide high quality content. Years ago people would write any old thing with a bunch of keywords thrown in, and they were suddenly ranking at No. 1 with Google and other search engines, despite the fact that the actual content was complete junk.

Algorithm changes have since stopped that from happening, which means you now actually have to write something of value if you want to rank well and keep your customers interested. Finding the balance between good quality content and using keywords effectively can take some time, but it’s well worth doing. Many companies choose to hire an agency to handle SEO so they can get a good start right from the beginning. Hiring a company can help with keyword density, but there is no definitive agreement between experts on whether there is an ideal level of keyword usage in content.

Avoid Keyword Stuffing

The one thing you definitely want to avoid is keyword stuffing. If you try to cram keywords into your blog post, or other SEO content too many times, you will end up penalized by the search engines. Even if your content is otherwise great, if it doesn’t rank well no one’s going to see it. Choose only a couple of keywords, and use them naturally throughout the copy without overusing them. Too many keywords, overall, won’t help your cause, and using any keyword too many times is just bad for business. Fortunately, keyword stuffing is easy to avoid, so you can have the best SEO content and the highest search engine ranking possible.
